Open Studio Project is a creative space for students to show up, make something real, and explore art beyond the classroom. This is about curiosity, confidence, and creating without pressure — no grades, no expectations, just the freedom to try.

More Than an Art Program.
A Place to Create.

Open Studio Project is a creative program designed for high school students who want space to explore art without pressure or performance. Through hands-on studio time, mentorship, and real-world creative experiences, students build confidence, connection, and creative independence.

This isn’t about being “good at art.”
It’s about showing up, trying things, and discovering what’s possible.

Not a Class.
Not a Club.
A Creative Space.

Open Studio Project gives students access to a real studio, real tools, and real freedom to create. No grades. No pressure. Just space to explore ideas, make mistakes, and build confidence through art.

What Do Students Recieve?

Students receive a $25 in studio credit each month to use at The Hip Kiln. This can be used for open studio time, pottery, and creative projects of their choice— no assignments, no pressure, and no expectation to be "good" at art.

Participants also have access to open studio time, giving them a consistent place to create, unwind, and explore at their own pace.

Artist with Paintbrushes

The Open Studio Project brings together students from different schools, backgrounds, and interests and provides them Open Studio Access to The Hip Kiln. Participants become part of a small creative community where they can meet new people, share space, and connect through making.

This program is designed to support mental health by offering a space to slow down, reset, and experience the calming benefits of hands-on creativity.

Connect

Arts & Crafts

Each month, students receive exclusive Open Studio Project swag—items like pins, hats, or apparel created just for participants. More than merchandise, these pieces represent belonging to something creative, supportive, and real.

Students are invited to share their experience in ways that feel natural to them, helping spread the message that art is for everyone and that creativity can be a powerful outlet for well-being.
